Representative cases:
Fears v. Yellow Freight, Cook County, Illinois. Defended trucking company in truck-automobile accident in which plaintiff sustained severe brain injury and quadriparesis, requiring 24-hour care. Plaintiff asked jury for $45 million. Obtained verdict for Yellow Freight and its driver.
Cairns v. Ty-Walk Liquid Sales, Will County, IL. Represented a trucking company and tractor-trailer driver in consolidated wrongful death suits involving car driver and passenger. Plaintiffs asked the jury for $10.5 million at trial. Obtained verdict for defendant clients in both cases.
Peek v. Goldblatt Brothers, Cook County, IL. Defended a department store whose truck allegedly struck the plaintiff’s vehicle in the rear and left the scene, rendering him quadriplegic. Obtained verdict for defendant client.
Dinon v. Shoup Buses, Cook County, IL. Defended tour bus in collision and turnover near Branson, Missouri resulting in death, blindness and other injuries among 46 passengers. Obtained verdict for defendant client.
Williams v. Illinois Central Gulf Railroad, Cook County, IL. Represented Illinois Central Gulf Railroad in a Federal Employee Liability Act claim against railroad for work-related injuries seeking damages in excess of $1 million for 38 year old plaintiff who allegedly suffered permanent injuries rendering him unemployable. Verdict in favor of plaintiff for $100,000 which was less than 10% of the amount sought by plaintiff.
Choe v. TruGreen Landcare LLC, Santa Ana, CA. Obtained directed verdict in favor of defendant after plaintiff’s case in bicyclist-truck accident.
Estate of Philippart v. Archer Daniels Midland, Sangamon County, IL. Wrongful death case involving vehicular traffic accident in which the decedent died after one and a half years in a coma. Verdict for plaintiff in the amount of $550,000. Reversed on appeal by Illinois Supreme Court which entered judgment for the defendant without remand.
