American Cancer Society

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service. Headquartered in Atlanta, Ga., the ACS has 12 chartered Divisions, more than 900 local offices nationwide, and a presence in more than 5,100 communities.

The American Cancer Society offers free information, programs, services and community referrals to patients, survivors and caregivers through every step of a cancer experience – so they can focus on getting well. It funds groundbreaking research that helps us understand cancer’s causes, determine how best to prevent it, and discover new ways to cure it. The organization also works with lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and rally communities worldwide to join the fight.
