John Fischetti Scholarship Fund

Partner David L. Applegate is the founding member and current chair of the John Fischetti Scholarship Fund Advisory Board of Columbia College Chicago. Established by the friends and colleagues of the late Pulitzer Prize-winning political cartoonist John Fischetti, the Fund awards scholarships annually to Columbia undergraduate and graduate journalism students who demonstrate outstanding achievement in print or broadcast journalism, photojournalism, editorial art, or political cartooning. In 2011, Mr. Applegate was instrumental in selecting and presenting the inaugural Columbia College Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Political Cartooning to long-time “Dick Tracy” cartoonist Richard B. Locher.
